The little fisherman town of Rovinj, Croatia has been on our list since our visit to Split last summer. We covered the beautiful islands surrounding Split and one of the most beautiful National Parks- Plitvice Lakes National park. But due to short of time we couldn’t make it to Rovinj, which has been named as one of the most beautiful coastal towns.
If you’ve never heard of Rovinj, you might be wondering what’s so special about it. Well, let us just dig through its charm and you’ll love it.
Rovinj’s old town is without doubt the most impressive and charming part of town. The old town is situated by the sea, on a hilly peninsula, with the tower of St. Euphemia Church marking its highest point. Rovinj is very picturesque town. Apart from the smooth, shiny marble cobblestone streets and pastel-colored houses, this part of Rovinj is renowned for its beautiful Venetian architecture and pedestrian streets full of art galleries and lively bars and restaurants.
Pretty cafes in Rovinj to have your alone time gazing the Adriatic Sea 🌊 Good morning everyone ❤️ Have a wonderful Thursday 😊 . . . #croatia #rovinj #mylenscapes #beautifulview #beautifuldestinations #lonelyplanet #forbestravelguide #followers #cafe #unlimitedcroatia #croatia_photography #croatiafulloflife #wanderlust #instalove #instamood #travel #explore #exploretocreate #croatia_photography
It’s also located by the Adriatic Sea which makes it popular for swimming and tanning. The water is very clear and the cliffs serve as a great jumping spot and add a little drama to the scenery.
Rovinj is one of those towns where you will never feel bored. Its beauty is so inspiring; it makes you feel great even just to walk its narrow streets up and down.
Best time to visit Rovinj, Croatia
Best time to visit Rovinj is spring, fall, early and late summer. Rovinj is romantic and it is nice at any time of the year. But winters could be rainy, cold and lacking any activity. Whereas peak summer is hot, busy and crowded. For us, the perfect time to visit is in September. There is far less people, the sea is still warm and accommodation prices are more affordable.
Reasons to visit Rovinj Croatia
Harbor of Romance!
There are places you simply need to see in your life, and for us Rovinj was one of them. The old town evokes nostalgia, and it’s absolutely romantic. The only way to really understand it is to experience it.
Out of all coastal towns in Istria, Rovinj has the best choice of restaurants. They not only prepare savory food, but they offer a stunning set with Adriatic Sea in the background.
Whether you decide to taste sublime cuisine of Monte or indulge in tasty creations of Barba Danilo, you simply can’t go wrong with restaurants in Rovinj.
Lovely seafront with rocky and pebbly beaches which stretch south of the old town, from the famed Lone Bay beach, through beaches of Golden Cape forest, across Punta Eva, all the way to neighboring Bale. The Lone Bay beach and Mulini Beach Club is open to public.
Also, the beach at Cape Kamenjak on Croatia’s Istrian coast, is a cult destination – a peninsula with pebbly bays and natural stone terraces.
In the middle of island Porer is a 35 meter high lighthouse named Lighthouse Porer, built in 1833 and maintained by the two lighthouse keepers. The island is 2.5 kilometers located from the mainland of Premantura. Porer represents a mystical beauty of the Adriatic Sea.
